Brief History:

The YWCA Nairobi Branch extends over a wide region, traversing Nakuru, Nairobi, Nyeri and Kajiado Counties.
The Branch boasts of diverse membership including Y-teens, young women, associate members, full members and life members.

Main Activities:

In-school outreach programmme.
Y-teen clubs are conducted in schools by trained peer educators and mentors. The pupils and students are taught on adolescent reproductive health and life skills. Topics such as healthy friendships, managing stress, anger and conflict are studied.

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
The branch actively joins with the World YWCA to help educate its young women about Sexual and Reproductive Health and rights. Advocacy against Gender Based Violence is also conducted.

End Female Genital Mutilation
The branch is actively involved in the campaign to end Female Genital Mutilation especially among the Maasai community in Kajiado. Education is therefore given to different categories of people i.e. women and girls, boys and men, opinion leaders including chiefs and church leaders and the circumcisers.

Exchange Programme
The branch implements exchange programmes where some youth are trained abroad and have a 2-months follow-up program for community outreach.
Successfully implemented programs have been such as; The Communication for Change Program, Young Peace Performers among others.

Communication through Photography
It is aimed at addressing issues that young people face as captured through the lenses.
As it advances, the program will engage more into street children lives to get to the root of their issues and offer counselling too.

Partnerships:
