Through the various community intervention programmes, the YWCA has been able to;

  • Impact many lives, rescue girls from Female Genital Mutilation and take them through an alternative rite of passage that does not involve female genital cutting
  • Restore hope to orphaned children providing them with possibilities to for a better future
  • Growing a pool of young women leaders who can articulate and advocate for issues at local and global levels, especially on sexual reproductive health (SRH)
  • Engage with communities to support women’s leadership, vote for them and enable a greater percentage of women access decision making positions.
  • Young people changing behaviour due to the interventions that provide them with information, skills and services liberating them to be co-partners in development.
  • Assisting young women access sponsorship to further their education and also have options for vocational skills training
  • Linkages to credit provision institutions for young people interested in business start up
  • Increased number of young women holding leadership positions within the governance structure of the YWCA
